Build a HERO in You!
Understanding progress, growth and change within you is to sleep for a week and wake up refreshed, open and renewed. Your senses are more aware now of your past and the new direction you must follow. Knowing the past is the past, you set out to redefine yourself as a stronger better leader.
Looking back isn’t always a bad thing (this is a look not a standing point) it offers an opportunity to truly evaluate yourself and your motives.
- Do pride, popularity and possessions motivate your actions?
- Are these challenges of your past challenges you are looking to change moving forward?
We have to have the ability to look deep within ourselves knowing that we aren’t perfect and we do have challenges that must be addresses and answered for.
- As a leader do you feel a sense of pride for the accomplishments of others?
- Or are you seeking to be the most popular leader (manager) in your organization or community?
- Or what about all the things you can buy after becoming the top dog?
- Are these the real things that motivate you to become a great leader?
Well…let’s look at the 3 chapters in the book: Building Long-Term Relationships, Taking a Stand, and Consistency. I went through all three because they all seemed to play nicely with each other. All thee deal with an aspect of leadership: character and trust. Without either one, you will not be able to build long-term relationships, or take a stand on anything but sand…let alone be consistent. Meaning, if you aren’t an honest person (and that includes being honest with yourself) nothing can move forward.
Have you ever heard someone say something like, “I didn’t lie, I didn’t tell you about that.” Or maybe, “It was just a little white-lie.” Withholding information or telling part of the truth all boils down to the same thing: A LIE is a LIE no matter what the color or length in subject. Open yourself up and be honest! This is your time to trust. Trust in yourself and allow yourself the opportunity to share your fear with those around you. By showing your vulnerabilities you are able to not only gain trust with others, you are also able to free yourself of the fears that chase you in the night. Remember: Progress, Growth and Change IS within you! And we’re not running a popularity race, so if some don’t get it move on for the greater good…watch, they will come back when they see a new, honest and very consistent you.
Everyone wants to be accepted and rewarded for their work. Your ability to motivate, infect and coach others at any level will be determined by the character you build today! Some may tell you that you can’t change; the person you are today is the person you will always be. Are you really going to let someone claim your destiny for you? I started this blog talking about faith and growth, whether or not you choose to equate that faith to a religious experience or not is up to you…but you must have faith in something or nothing in your life will change except the world around you. I marvel at the attitudes and pure faith of the people in Japan. While the world as they knew it was changed in just a few moments, they press on. As a global society of leaders we must press on, pressing on knowing the difference we make in another person’s life is the difference between group think and people think.
Get involved; re-look at your motives for success. Ask yourself:
- What are my measurements of success?
- How will I know when I’ve been successful and what will I do after that?
Give thanks for the day and go to work building relationships that will last a life time, take a stand not seeking popularity…you are standing on faith and consistent values. We’ve all got it in us to reach levels far beyond what we could have ever dreamed for ourselves…just believe and hold on tight, this is going to be quite a ride.
Create a NEW TRUTH: you have the ability to live your deepest values and add an emotional commitment to each and everything you do to make a difference in the lives of others.

Ilike what you are saying because it is true.If you think you are going to reach a certain one person,I think you can forget that aspect.
